Come see my show "Finding Light" on display April-May 2026

“Finding Light” explores everyday magic: how do we rise above the mundane of the day to day routine to experience the joy we crave?

Sometimes it can be as simple as looking up.  The calming beauty of a sunrise can remind us that there is more to the world than our clutter of modern human worries.  Sometimes you can instead look down: a dusting of spring blossoms on your path or a tiny caterpillar moving along will draw your attention away from your to-do list.

This show ponders: what exists beyond the confines we tend to place around ourselves and our world?  Can we step out of our own structured, day in and day out lives and see what we’ve been missing?  I invite you to look beyond with me, and take in the color and the light that surrounds us.

Eyes feature in my work often. Most of the time they are boldly and beautifully rendered on the face of a fairy, an elf, or occasionally Sarah Brightman. Her eyes are just wonderful to draw!

Sometimes, the eyes I draw are alone, separated from the face and encased in a cage or some sort of glass container with wires and coils around them.

One of my favorite reasons for drawing is to explore the mind. Our inner thoughts as people, my inner thoughts as an artist - what does it mean to be human and have all this analytical power in our brains, this great ability to imagine and change ourselves, and yet suffer so many faults and failings?

Can we ever break out of ourselves? Or is our control over our lives and our world just an illusion, and in fact our psyche - or maybe psychosis - is the only reality…
