"Life is But a Dream- Getting ready for my October Show

Mark your calendars for my October Show! “Life is But a Dream” will be on display in downtown Lodi at the Lodi Community Art Center this October.

“Numinous”

Pen on paper.

The show will explore the richest parts of life: the fleeting ones.

“Let Go”

Colored pencil on paper.

Sometimes those moments are the daydreams in which you lose yourself, then barely remember when you emerge into the waking world, or the brief glimpses of beauty you try to capture forever.

“Pull”

Colored pencil on Strathmore toned black paper.

My show will also explore introspection: the pieces of your life that you try to analyze over a lifetime. Why do certain things persist in our minds? Will we ever get beyond them?

Certain dreams and desires also follow us through our lives. Part of being human, I think, is a deep longing to explore and understand something beyond ourselves…

Come out in October for an exploration of all that makes life so nebulous - and what makes us human.

Save the Date for my October 2025 show. On display through the month in downtown Lodi CA.

Eyes feature in my work often. Most of the time they are boldly and beautifully rendered on the face of a fairy, an elf, or occasionally Sarah Brightman. Her eyes are just wonderful to draw!

Sometimes, the eyes I draw are alone, separated from the face and encased in a cage or some sort of glass container with wires and coils around them.

One of my favorite reasons for drawing is to explore the mind. Our inner thoughts as people, my inner thoughts as an artist - what does it mean to be human and have all this analytical power in our brains, this great ability to imagine and change ourselves, and yet suffer so many faults and failings?

Can we ever break out of ourselves? Or is our control over our lives and our world just an illusion, and in fact our psyche - or maybe psychosis - is the only reality…
